No line. Online. That’s what customers can look forward to as Online Easy Ordering (OEO) rolls out companywide beginning this month.
OEO offers a quick and easy way to order your favorite Publix brand and Boar’s Head sliced meats, cheeses, custom subs and wraps. To place an order, visit www.publix.com/order, and follow the screen instructions to choose toppings for subs, customize thickness of meats and cheeses, and select a pickup time.
“Being innovative and offering highquality products is part of our strategy,” said Business Development Director of Deli Terry Simpson. “OEO is a natural extension of our service commitment, especially for our on-the-go customers, and we’re excited to roll out the service companywide.”
During the pilot, customers embraced OEO. A survey of customers found
- 91 percent were very likely to recommend OEO to others
- 93 percent were completely satisfied with the convenience of OEO and
- 94 percent of customers are very likely to use OEO again.
In addition, more than 60 percent of online orders were for sliced meat or cheese, and customers who placed orders online were more likely to order at least one additional item.
All stores are expected to be live on OEO by September 2014.
“I encourage you to try OEO for yourself, and recommend it to your friends, family members and customers as well,” said Terry. “Our research has shown the stores who perform best with OEO have managers and associates who promote the service. It’s up to you to be a champion for OEO.”
Preparing to go live
Each store will receive several communications in preparation for going live on OEO. Managers will receive important information, including their equipment installation, training and go-live dates, via email. A kit of associate communications will be delivered to each store approximately one week prior to going live.
Deli retail improvement specialists will conduct training about two weeks before each store’s scheduled go-live date. All deli associates will learn how to promote OEO, fulfill online orders, and help customers place and pick up their orders.
Specialized training will be given to order coordinators — a new task created to help organize online orders. The order coordinator has the important job of making sure each order is accurate and ready at the promised time.
Each store will receive a standee with customer brochures, stickers to place on deli orders, cashier handouts and other materials. To further promote the service, all customer service and deli associates will receive an OEO t-shirt to wear on weekends after their store goes live.
