Why did you want to open the GreenWise Market?
Store Manager Jared Davis: To be on the forefront of bringing the GreenWise concept to our customers
Assistant Store Manager Justin Starling: To be part of innovation for our company and to provide a personalized shopping experience for our customers
Meat Manager Chris Burdette: As a leader at my current store, I wanted to bring my positive attitude, work ethic and love of Publix culture to the launch of GreenWise Market.
Assistant Meat Manager Kyle Hornbuckle: To learn new things and help the company with this groundbreaking idea
Grocery Manager Frank Tilcock: This GreenWise Market will be the first of its kind for Publix. I wanted to be part of the team that gets to bring this new concept to the public.
Assistant Customer Service Manager Wendy Warner: I believe in the ideas and concept behind GreenWise Market. I look forward to sharing my personal experiences with our customers and hearing about their lifestyles.
Produce Manager Jonathan Sexton: To spread our culture in a different environment and continue Mr. George’s legacy of innovation
Assistant Produce Manager Chase Ranew: To be part of something new and exciting that can push my career further. I loved the idea of being one of a few to launch this concept.
Prepared Foods Manager Matt Costigan: To be part of the next chapter of our company history. I knew it would be an exciting experience to help shape the culture and atmosphere of GreenWise.
Assistant Prepared Foods Manager Jessica Pace: I was excited to see Publix diving into a new concept and wanted to be a part of it.
Assistant Prepared Foods Manager Danielle Griesl (Dani): GreenWise Market represented the best choice for me personally and professionally because it focuses on a personal passion.
What drew you to the new concept?
Jared: I wanted to be involved in laying the foundation for our future.
Justin: This is a major milestone for Publix and will pave the way for future locations.
Chris: All the innovative new amenities in each new department. Also, having the opportunity to cross-train in other departments.
Kyle: I believe in this new direction, and it will help me achieve my career goal of becoming a RIS
Frank: It was different. It will not only have different products for my department, but also new prepared foods and meat items. I think the relaxed atmosphere will make it a fun place to work.
Jason: A new concept brings unexpected hurdles and challenges. I’m confident in my abilities, and I think the experience of opening this new concept will strengthen them.
Venessa: The change from Publix and to do something different
Wendy: That I can continue to work for the company I’ve grown to love and take on new responsibilities.
Jonathan: It’s new and exciting and is something we’ve never done before. GreenWise Market offers things we’ve never brought to our customers, and we’re getting a chance to expand our market share.
Chase: GreenWise Market and its unique items are an interesting marketing concept. I wanted to learn a new expertise and grow with that market.
Matt: It’s a new direction in so many ways, and it will be interesting to see what new customers we attract.
Jessica: My love of organic foods and products
Dani: It’s all about food. I’m fascinated by the relevance of food from an anthropological and sociological standpoint. I love seeing the vital role food plays in people’s lives and cultures.
What is your favorite thing about GreenWise Market?
Jared: All the completely new venues and products
Justin: The variety of new product offerings in our EATS department
Chris: The updated dress code and POURS department
Kyle: How different the entire store is compared to a neighborhood Publix. Every department introduces new products and experiences for customers.
Frank: How it wants to blend in and be part of its local community.
Jason: I’m very excited about what this store means for Publix. As a company, we need to stay on top of trends and incorporate new ideas to make sure we support our mission statement — to be the premier quality food retailer in the world.
Venessa: The POURS department
Wendy: Learning new things daily
Jonathan: I love how chill it looks and how we’re going to offer a lot of local things to tie us into the community around us.
Chase: The beard! Not just that, of course, but I believe the GreenWise Market dress code will help associates feel comfortable and create an engaging atmosphere.
Matt: I think the relaxed appearance standards should allow associates to open up and bring more enthusiasm to the experience.
Jessica: The interaction with the local community
Dani: The incredible amount of positive energy and innovation embodied in the project
What is the most exciting part about opening the first new-concept GreenWise Market?
Jared: Blazing a trail!
Justin: Helping set the standard for future stores for our company
Chris: Being one of the pioneers to help move GreenWise Market into the future and be successful.
Kyle: Being able to cater to a different group of customers than what we were used to at a traditional Publix and to compete with other growing companies
Frank: Seeing the reactions of the customers when they notice the new products and services
Jason: Unveiling all the new products and services, making them a success and meeting a lot of people who we do not normally get to interact with.
Venessa: Making history!
Wendy: The endless possibilities
Jonathan: All the food and craft beer we offer
Chase: The fact that it will be the first of its kind. I’m thrilled to be a part of this. I feel very privileged and proud to be able to say I helped open the first new-concept GreenWise Market store and did my part to help ensure its success.
Matt: To be pioneers of the new concept. We can set the bar for future GreenWise Markets and put our mark on it.
Jessica: Being there to experience Publix history. I’m extremely humbled to be included.
Dani: All the great new products and foods we get to try. Adventures!
What do you hope/expect to see happen as customers discover GreenWise Market?
Jared: They will fall in love!
Justin: I expect GreenWise Market to dominate the competition.
Chris: I hope to see it flourish in the community and become a household name
Kyle: I hope to see a rapidly-growing brand that customers love and are excited about. And to cater to customers who place an emphasis on a healthy lifestyle and have a deep passion for the different options we offer.
Frank: I expect to see amazement. Customers will be pleasantly surprised by the difference between GreenWise Market and a traditional Publix.
Jason: I expect us to gain new customers and business partners and form lasting relationships we didn’t have previously. I also expect us to be successful, to positively react to the challenges we will encounter and to ensure the prosperity and sustainability of our company for customers and associates alike.
Venessa: The whole new concept and the burrito bowls. I hope customers love it!
Wendy: I hope customers develop a new way of thinking about the food they eat and enjoy.
Jonathan: I hope and expect to see a lot of people talking about it, and I want them to make us their go-to place for local and organic items — a place where they can come and feel chill, relaxed and at home.
Chase: My expectation is our customers will love the new-format GreenWise Market and want more of them. My hope is they will see we can bring the same premier customer service and quality products Publix is known for, along with the organic variety our competitors offer. This will ensure we are the company they shop from — no matter what kind of food they are looking to buy.
Matt: I want our customers to discover a unique shopping destination that meets and exceeds their needs. I hope it is an environment our customers flock to and they choose us as their specialty, natural and organic store.
Jessica: I expect to see the success of GreenWise Market as we expand into other territories and watch our customer base grow. I hope to increase my knowledge of various new products from our new customers and become involved in the local community and lifestyle.
Dani: I hope GreenWise Market will allow customers to discover not just a new grocery store, but a community and a new love for adventurous eating.
