Mr. George started the tradition of giving holiday bonuses in the 1950s. During his visits around the holiday season, he would hand out holiday bonuses to associates as a way to thank them for treating our customers like royalty.

Since then, Publix has carried on this tradition every year.

“Mr. George’s generosity is part of our culture,” said Director of Compensation and Personnel Records Tracy McClellan. “The gift of a holiday bonus to associates is one way we show our gratitude for what our associates do to make our company successful.”

In mid-December, Publix provides a holiday bonus to eligible associates. This year, weekly-paid associates should receive their holiday bonus Dec. 9, and monthly-paid associates should receive their holiday bonus Dec. 12.
