Product knowledge

Mr. George started Publix almost 85 years ago with the promise of being a better grocer than his competition.

He was successful in accomplishing his goals. Today, our customers depend on us to provide premier service, have clean stores and interact with friendly associates. But what they also want to know is that we’re here for them when they have a question about a product. So while they may not express it as much, knowledgeable associates are what they’re looking for.

This need spans across all departments. In our grocery department, customers want to know where to find products, what varieties we have and about alternatives or suggestions for substitutes. In our fresh departments, customers want to know about the products themselves and how to prepare them. Our customers also look to our Aprons associates to be inspired in the kitchen — whether it’s with a new meal or quick one. We have everything a customer needs for their main plates and side dishes, but how is that different from our competitors?

The key differentiator for us is that no one can do it like Publix, because they don’t have the quality associates we have in our stores. No matter which department you work in or position you have, everyone should grow their knowledge about the products we offer.

This year, Publix News will help every associate learn a little bit more. Every month, you’ll find a story about a product or service we offer; you’ll even find stories on where our products come from. Take this opportunity to soak up what you may not already know — we have plenty of information to share.
