July 1, 2011 — the day Publix began its social journey

July 2015

It was only four years ago this month when Publix made its debut in the social media world with the launch of our official Facebook page.

Facebook logoOn July 1, 2011, fans welcomed us to Facebook with open arms and many thumbs up. Within four hours — from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. — more than 3,000 fans liked our page. That day, we were also recognized for gaining 100 new fans per minute.

Launching the official Publix Facebook page was our way to extend the special experience customers receive inside the store to the online community. We had pages dedicated to recipes, savings, products, community, and clubs and programs. And with a small team of associates who managed the page, we were able to speak with customers about everything from foods and services to how Publix can help create memorable moments and more.

Like with many things in social media these days, a lot has changed in a short amount of time. Today, our page has more than 2.3 million likes. Can you believe it? And, we’re engaging with more than 550 customers per day by answering their inquiries and sharing their stories. You’ll also notice in-the-moment posts from our social media team like posting from a store opening or a nutrition class led by an in-store dietitian.

If you’re not a fan of Publix’s page yet, like us today. Join in the fun our customers are having by being social with us.
