How we invest in you

Todd Jones

Early in your career you talked with your management team about many topics like your family and goals, or improvement ideas and company values. Those discussions contributed to how you became part of the Publix family.

As those relationships grew and developed, you continued to go back and ask those managers questions you had. Answering questions is one of the ways we invest in you. With any new job or responsibility, you have to learn how to do it, and it’s easier today with the programs we have in place.

I couldn’t imagine going back to the old days of learning how to do your job. We have job class training that comes in phases when you need it. It’s a constant investment, so you feel prepared to do your job.

We also invest in you through recognitions like the My Publix, My Part cards, celebratory cookouts, good attendance awards, and service award lunches and dinners. We want to show our appreciation for you.

If I heard Mr. George say it a hundred times, he must have said it a thousand times — take care of associates, and they’ll take care of their customers. And that’s why investing in you is so important.

I’ve talked about how you’re the branches of the Publix tree that help strengthen us. How are you preparing yourself to grow? Get out there and reach for the career you want. And always remember what it’s like to be new, so you can help others starting out.

Thanks for all you do.
