Just days after Hurricane Irma, Publix Truck Driver Andy Harvey was busy delivering product to stores whose inventory had been depleted. While traveling the interstate near Daytona Beach, he witnessed a motorist drive directly into a retention pond. Andy immediately pulled off the freeway and jumped into action. Andy and another motorist dived into the pond and used their pocket knives to cut the convertible top and seat belt from the driver. When the paramedics arrived, they determined the motorist had experienced a seizure and passed out. Had it not been for Andy, the motorist may have died. Still soaking wet and smelling of pond stench from the rescue, Andy insisted on continuing his route. He knew how important his delivery was to the stores and our customers.
