Mr. George’s vision for our company shined through during this year’s unprecedented hurricane season.

Hurricane Irma presented challenges unlike any we’ve experienced in the past. The sheer size of the storm, as well as the fact that it quickly followed on the heels of Hurricane Harvey, caused customers to purchase high volumes of necessities. After the storm, widespread power outages and storm damage created additional challenges for you, our suppliers, customers and the communities we serve.

Hurricane Maria followed, deeply impacting many of your families in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Then came Hurricane Nate, affecting other parts of our operating area.

But in true Publix fashion, you stepped up! Our company performed like no other competitor. Our friends, families and fans from all over thanked us for being there for our communities before and immediately following the storms.

It was all possible because of you — our amazing associates. Words simply cannot express my appreciation and gratitude for your commitment to your fellow associates, customers and communities. Many of you were dealing with issues at home, but you came to work with a warm smile and servant’s heart. I am truly humbled and so very proud of you for going above and beyond. Your acts continue to inspire me and those around you.
