Pharmacy sync program helps patients

According to a recent study conducted by the Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, patients with heart conditions are more likely to take their medications as directed if they’re enrolled in the Publix Pharmacy Sync Your Refills program.

The study compared patients who participated in Sync Your Refills at Publix Pharmacy to patients who did not. The results showed patients in the program were more likely to take their medications as prescribed, and that was especially true for patients who normally don’t take their medication regularly. In addition, patients in the program were less likely to go to the emergency room or become hospitalized.

The Publix Pharmacy Sync Your Refills program helps patients take their medications as prescribed by making sure all of their prescriptions are refilled on the same date, so they only have to make one trip to the pharmacy. The program also sends refill reminders and schedules medication pick-up appointments at the pharmacy.

On March 1, Manager of Managed Care Kimberly Bone spoke about Publix Pharmacy’s Sync Your Refills program and the study’s results during a briefing at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. She was part of a group discussion about how synchronization programs work and how they can improve patient health and reduce costly health care provider visits.
