Say cheers to local beers

At Publix, we’re proud to support local businesses, including featuring popular picks from independent breweries in our beer aisle. Be sure to check out these local drinks — from ales to lagers to India Pale Ales (IPA) — found on our shelves.

Alabama

Good People IPA, Good People Brewing Co.

Described as Good People Brewing Co.’s “flagship brew,” this IPA features five different hops. Fans of lighter brews will like this drink’s hint of caramel, but the folks at Good People still classify the drink as more bitter than sweet.

Florida

Reef Donkey American Pale Ale (APA), Tampa Bay Brewing Co.

Summertime is more than a season in Florida — it’s a lifestyle. So it’s no surprise Tampa Bay Brewing Co. created a pale ale that pairs lemon-lime with tropical flavors. In a state where you can boat and fish year-round, the folks at Tampa Bay Brewing Co. wanted to create an ale that could be brought on any adventure.

ABV: 5.5%

Georgia

Tropicália IPA, Creature Comforts Brewing Co.

As the name suggests, this pick from a Georgia brewery is packed with fruity flavor. Complete with a citrus scent, this summertime brew will keep Georgia on your mind all season long.

ABV: 6.6%

North Carolina

White Zombie White Ale, Catawba Brewing Co.

Made from Magnum and Golding hops, this not-so-scary brew was originally made as a seasonal treat for Halloween. But the brew quickly became a flagship of Catawba Brewing and is now available year-round. With coriander and orange peel, this brew is so refreshing it could wake the undead.

ABV: 5.1%

South Carolina

Westbrook White Thai, Westbrook Brewing Co.

You might be having a stay-cation this summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t let the taste of White Thai take you across the globe. Made with lemongrass and ginger root, this beer is a nod to the smells and savory flavors of Southeast Asia.

ABV: 5%

Tennessee

Gerst Amber Ale, Yazoo Brewing Company

Ale drinkers can revisit Nashville’s past with a beer that sticks close to a centuries-old recipe. Made with German malts and flaked maize, this Tennessee favorite will have you saying “yahoo!” for Yazoo.

ABV: 5.1%

Virginia

Richmond Lager, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery

Made by and for local people, this unfiltered lager is made from malted two-row barley. And that’s not all — the brew is made of Cascade hops, 20 percent of which are grown in Virginia. A hint of citrus finishes off this brew.

ABV: 5%
