Week 4
Just a few miles west of Las Vegas is Red Rock Canyon — 195,819 acres of geologic interest. Plato enjoyed the hiking trails, 13-mile scenic drive and beauty within this region of the Mojave Desert.
Plato ventured 35 miles southeast of Las Vegas to Hoover Dam, the National Historic Landmark named after America’s 31st president, Herbert Hoover. Crossing the 1,900-foot-long Colorado River Bridge from Nevada to Arizona, he took in the views of Black Canyon from the highest concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere.
Plato took it easy on a trip to the Big Easy and visited several historic sites, including the St. Louis Cathedral. Facing Jackson Square in the French Quarter of New Orleans, it’s the oldest continuously active Roman Catholic Cathedral in the United States, originally built in the early 1700s.
Week 3
On a trip to London, England, Plato strolled through Trafalgar Square to admire the commemorative statues and sculptures — including Landseer’s Lions, built in 1867.
Giving back in his spare time is right up Plato’s alley, so he joined fellow associates for a Bowl-A-Thon in Jensen Beach, Florida, to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Plato boarded the Hogwarts Express and traveled between both lands of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter for a magical weekend at Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
Week 2
What better way to welcome Halloween than visiting the 999 ghosts and ghouls of The Haunted Mansion? This spooky spot gave Plato quite the scare at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Plato hit the jackpot in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, also known as “The Shopping Wonder of the World.” The oldest mall in Las Vegas, it’s a 675,000-square-foot, all-encompassing experience with 160 stores, restaurants and attractions.
Every place is an adventure when you’re a kid, including Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Orlando, Florida. Plato got a close-up view of its 17,000-gallon super aquarium stocked with trophy fish native to the area.
Week 1
On a trip with friends to New York City, Plato met Lady Liberty herself. Standing at 305 feet tall and weighing 225 tons, the Statue of Liberty is an imposing figure — even for a dinosaur!
On a trip to Nags Head, North Carolina, Plato toured the Bodie Island Lighthouse, built in 1871. Pronounced “body,” the lighthouse is rumored to have been named after the bodies of sailors who washed up from shipwrecks in the area, known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic.
Plato enjoyed a beach getaway to the Birthplace of Flight — Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The tall soundside dunes of the hills are where the Wright Brothers first launched their 1903 glider.
