Pharmacy manager goes the extra mile

For Pharmacy Manager Christina Robbins, #1099, St. Johns, Florida, putting the customer first is second nature. She believes in always providing premier service and taking time to go the extra mile.

Earlier this year, Christina’s beliefs were put to the test. After pulling into her driveway, she received a call about a customer who was distraught. The customer, whose husband had undergone surgery earlier in the day, had missed the pharmacy’s operating hours and desperately needed his medication. Although she was already home, Christina drove back to the store and reopened the pharmacy to get the customer the medicine she needed and assisted her with checking out.

“Upon graduating from pharmacy school, pharmacists take an oath to provide the highest level of customer service to patients,” said Christina. “It’s amazing to work for a company that supports that idea.”

Christina was awarded a gold coin for her dedication to providing premier customer service. She was at a loss for words for being recognized for what she considered to be a small act of kindness.

“It leaves me in awe to know Publix is a company that comes together and celebrates associates. It’s such a humbling experience,” she said.

Christina believes opportunities like this encourage other associates to complete their own acts of kindness. She has been the benefactor of such kindness in the past.

After she gave birth to premature twins, her managers at #128, Jacksonville, Florida, helped her transfer to a store closer to the medical facility so she could visit her newborns before and after work. This encouraged Christina to continue to go above and beyond in her daily work and make a greater impact.

“When associates live the values of Publix and put their heart into it, it shows,” she said. “It is all about bleeding green and making sure fellow associates and customers understand the Publix culture is unique from other stores. We will go the extra mile no matter what.”

The gold coin is given to associates who embrace the Publix culture and provide premier service the way Mr. George himself would have. Receiving a gold coin means you’ve made a real difference in the lives of others by going above and beyond. Associates can become eligible for the gold coin by receiving praise through the customer care department, which reviews each case based on established criteria and guidelines.
