New year, new you! Start the new decade on the right foot with these career tips from some of our leaders.
“I started my Publix career in 1995 as a front service clerk at #506 [Aiken, South Carolina]. I came up through the grocery department and was promoted to store manager in 2007 and to district manager in 2014. I was promoted to my current role in 2017 when Publix announced our first wave of Virginia store openings. My advice for anyone growing their career is to lead by example, don’t hesitate to ask questions and take the next step in your career — we’re all here to support you!”

“I started my Publix career in 1992 as a front service clerk at #64 [Bradenton, Florida]. I worked my way up to grocery manager, assistant store manager, store manager and district manager before assuming my current role in 2018. The advice I often give associates and managers who want to continue to advance is to teach, motivate and inspire the people you work with. You’ll become a better leader and lift those around you.”

“I started my Publix career in 1993 as a cashier at #424 [Palm Bay, Florida]. I am passionate about serving our customers, so I continued to pursue a career in customer service and worked my way up to assistant store manager, store manager and district manager. I was promoted to my current role in 2018, where I now have the pleasure of serving district managers and support staff. My advice for associates looking to grow is to set goals for your career path, learn as much as you can and find someone to mentor you.”

“I started my Publix career in 1991 as a front service clerk at #412 [Savannah, Georgia]. It was the very first store that opened outside of Florida. Reflecting on my career progression, credit is largely due to others who invested their time to coach and mentor me. I measure my success now on how effective I am in mentoring others to reach their career goals. My advice to any associate who desires to advance his or her career with Publix would be to soak up the knowledge and expertise of your leaders, invest in others and prepare for opportunities to advance.”
Adrian Bennett, Jacksonville Division Regional Director

“I started my Publix career in 1985 as a front service clerk at #53 [Bradenton, Florida]. I worked my way up to grocery manager, assistant store manager and store manager. Through my career, I’ve had the privilege to help open stores #417 [Bradenton, Florida], #647 [Atlanta] and #719 [Buckhead, Georgia]. I became a district manager in 2001 and was promoted to my current role in 2014. My advice to associates who want to move up is to stay focused, evaluate your decisions and believe that one person does make a difference.”
