Listening to the many voices of Publix

At Publix, you are encouraged to share your ideas with and ask questions of your managers.

Innovation is fueled by the different ways associates see things. Our associates are encouraged to communicate new ideas with their managers because, as company owners, it’s our responsibility to share ideas to make Publix better.

Sun’s out, shorts out

Recently, a cashier approached a leader visiting their store to ask whether there was a reason their uniform did not include shorts. They emphasized how hot it can be during the summer, and cashiers often assist customers to their cars. Understanding the need and benefit this could provide cashiers, the change was approved.

The long and shorts of it

Mr. George set the example by listening to associates and their ideas. Asking if cashiers could wear shorts may seem like a small question, but the result shows our leaders are continuing to live out our founder’s legacy of being there. They’re here to listen to you, and that’s one of the reasons Publix is a great place to work.
