Hope springs eternal in Odessa mural

Nature is all around us, even in our stores!

When Candace Knapp started planning her painting for #1702, Odessa, Florida, she knew she wanted to incorporate nature to reflect natural and organic products.

“I eat a lot of organic foods and enjoy the GreenWise products,” said Candace. “I was ecstatic at the opportunity to work with a store that aligned with my way of life.”

Candace started painting springs about five years ago after creating sculptures for many years. On one of her trips to Lithia Springs in Lithia, Florida, she was captivated by the water and how much depth it had. The water was full of life and movement, much like a living thing. She knew in that moment it would inspire her next mural.

“Painting water is like creating a window into another world. There are so many colors and depth,” said Candace. “You could not just paint the top of a spring without peering into it and painting the different layers.”

Much like nature, Candace enjoys going wild with her colors and brushstrokes. Water knows no limits or perfect motions — an idea she embraces as she incorporates the free flow of organic shapes in her work. It’s all about letting go and trusting her hands to make the movements.

“My favorite part of the whole process of painting a mural is the very last step,” said Candace. “Cleaning it up and fitting everything on the canvas is when you finally get to see it as a whole, complete piece.”
