Associate is focused on making a difference

In the 15 years since he’s been working as a selector at the high velocity warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida, Christopher Stewart has maintained a 99.9% accuracy rate. The key to his success? Attention to detail.

Instead of working from a paper list, selectors listen through a headset letting them know which items to choose. Christopher has a hearing impairment, but that hasn’t stopped him from paying close attention to selecting the correct products for shipment in the warehouse. By focusing on the task at hand, he’s maintained his accuracy rate and gone his entire career without one safety incident.

“I try not to get ahead of myself,” said Christopher. “I pay attention to the descriptions on items since similar-looking products might be placed next to each other. That helps me keep up my accuracy rate.”

Christopher recently began cross-training to become a dock coordinator, allowing him to expand his opportunities with Publix. He is passionate about his work and likes being a self-starter. He is a workout advocate who tries to stay as healthy as possible, which motivates him to do his best every day.

“He has shown a lot of commitment and dedication to his job,” said Superintendent Jimmy Sallee. “He’s currently the longest-tenured selector in the Jacksonville Division and is a role model when it comes to accuracy. He’s always maintained a safe, positive attitude as he selected through holidays, natural disasters and now the pandemic.”

Christopher’s dedication and commitment to making a difference by providing premier customer service through his focus on accuracy allows our stores to have the products our customers are looking for. These reasons are why he is recognized as a My Publix, My Part difference maker.
