After Grocery Replenishment Specialist Steve Ashton, #1676, Mountain Brook, Alabama, moved to the U.S. in 2019, he quickly learned that Publix GreenWise Market (PGWM) was the place to be.
Moving to a new country usually means leaving everything you are familiar with behind. But not for Steve.
“When I first moved to Alabama, I stumbled upon PGWM while I was out walking around the neighborhood,” said Steve. “Walking through the store reminded me of stores back in England because of how clean it was and what a wide variety of products were available.”
Steve loved the layout and the aesthetic of the store because of how engaging and calming it was. But it wasn’t the physical store that sealed the deal with him.
“Being responsible in the community is something that really resounds with me,” said Steve. “Publix and Publix GreenWise Market work hard on sustainability efforts and helping people out in times of need, no matter how small or large the gesture.”
When Steve first started training, the Publix mission statement stood out to him as unique and rare.
“The mission statement creates such a positive environment to work in because associates respect and help each other out,” said Steve. “We are one big family. We are there to support each other, no matter how big or small the need is.”
For Steve’s role, he enjoys the fast pace of grocery and all the products he gets to work with in a day.
“I like always having something to do so I am not sitting around,” said Steve. “Before starting, I had never been able to work with vendors, but PGWM really works closely with them and their products to give each store a unique local vibe.”
