And the winner is …

Hundreds cast their votes. Now, we’ve picked the winner.

Earlier this year, through Idea Spot, we asked our associates to create a unique sub recipe.

Associates submitted their ideas and had the opportunity to vote for their favorite.

Finalists had a tasting session
After all the votes were counted, 4 subs were selected as finalists including:

  • The Cowboy by Deli Clerk Brett Root, #1581, The Villages, Florida Boar’s Head Chipotle Gourmaise, Boar’s Head Deluxe Roast Beef, Boar’s Head Chipotle Gouda, onion rings and a drizzle of barbecue sauce on a white roll.
  • Land/Air/Sea by Pharmacy Intern Samuel Williams, #1404, Mobile, Alabama Publix Deli Fried Popcorn Shrimp, Publix Deli Oven-Roasted Turkey Breast, Publix Deli Top Round Roast Beef, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, salt and pepper on a white roll.
  • Buffalo Chicken by Customer Service Team Leader Kirk Bonacci, #692, Orlando, Florida Publix Deli Chicken Breast Salad with Buffalo sauce, lettuce, onions, peppers and ranch dressing on a white roll.
  • Spicy Chicken Tender Sub by Software Engineer Ryan Bowser Publix Deli Chicken Tenders, Publix Deli Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese, Buffalo sauce, Boar’s Head 3-Pepper Colby Jack Cheese and jalapenos on a white roll.

A big thank-you to the Aprons chefs who did a wonderful job creating each sandwich and making a taste test possible.

Winning sub
After the taste test, The Cowboy was named the grand prize winner. The sandwich was evaluated on its originality, taste and texture. For his amazing sub, Brett visited the corporate office where he was welcomed by the deli business unit. He also received a Publix gift card and Idea Spot pin.
