We have so much to be proud of as part of the Publix family, and September is a great time to think about that.

On Sept. 6, we’ll celebrate our 93rd anniversary, and on Sept. 29, we’ll celebrate what would have been Mr. George’s 116th birthday. Without our visionary founder, where would we be today? Would our communities be thriving as much as they are today?

Part of what was important to Mr. George was giving back, and as a grocery retailer, we can make the biggest impact on alleviating hunger.

Did you know 1 in 10 people in America are food insecure? And, 1 in 8 children and 1 in 14 seniors don’t know where their next meal is coming from. During this month — Hunger Action Month — we strive to bring awareness to these statistics through sharing stories and focusing our Publix Serves Week on events that support hunger-alleviation efforts in our communities.

Join me this month, and let’s do good, together.
