Cotton Candy grapes are a sweet treat

Cotton Candy Grapes

Cotton Candy grapes are a hybrid of two grape species developed through traditional and natural breeding practices without artificial flavors or genetic engineering. They’ve been available in limited quantities since 2011, but due to a recent increase in sales, production has increased from just two acres in previous years to 100 acres this year and 200 acres planted for 2014.

Although the sugar content of these grapes is about eight percent more than traditional grapes, they have significantly less carbohydrates than raisins. Their taste is similar to cotton candy — sweet with hints of vanilla.

Other grape varieties that taste like strawberry, pineapple and mango also have been created with a similar process but are not yet available commercially.
