Since Mr. George opened the doors to the 1st Publix Food Store on Sept. 6, 1930, we’ve been dedicated to taking care of our associates, customers and communities. So, as we celebrate our 94th anniversary, let’s continue to carry on our founder’s legacy of giving back.
As a grocery retailer, we believe we can make the greatest impact by helping feed our neighbors in need. Since 2020, we’ve donated 100 million pounds of produce to Feeding America partner food banks. Reaching this milestone this year is incredible. I’m proud we continue to make a difference in our communities.
During September — Hunger Action Month — you’ll hear more about our efforts, along with contributions from Publix Super Markets Charities, to support nonprofit organizations focused on hunger relief. And I’m grateful for those of you who have signed up to participate in Publix Serves Week, when our service projects will focus on helping neighbors facing hunger.
Mr. George set the example for being involved in the community, and I hope we can continue his legacy of giving back by doing good, together.
Thanks for all you contribute.
Kevin
