Bakery manager shares her recipe for career success

Roseline Orelus, #56, Lighthouse Point, Florida, is a hardworking associate who encourages others to grow with Publix.

Roseline started her Publix career in 2004 as a decorator apprentice at #850, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She worked in various bakery roles at 6 different stores before being promoted to her current role.

“I first heard about Publix when I was about 16 and living in Haiti,” said Roseline, who moved to the United States when she was 18. “Because of the store’s reputation, I knew I wanted to work for Publix and be a part of the team.”

As a bakery manager, Roseline is responsible for operating a quality bakery department, which includes providing premier service to customers.

“You are there for customers’ big moments and milestones,” said Roseline. “You need to listen to their needs and make sure they all leave Publix happy.”

With the support of her managers, Roseline pursued her dream of higher education. However, on-the-job training opportunities are always available to associates.

“You don’t have to go to culinary school to become a baker. You can learn the skills you need right here at Publix by doing your job,” explained Roseline. “This is the place to grow your career and become whoever you want to be.”
