Lemar Lewis, #758, Poinciana, Florida, explains why he became a pharmacist.
What made you want to work for Publix?
My 1st job was as a front service clerk at Publix. As I grew older and figured out my career, I decided to go to pharmacy school. I knew I loved working with people, so staying with Publix felt like the right decision.
Why did you become a pharmacist?
I started studying aviation management, but I didn’t have a passion for it. A pharmacist introduced me to this job. I later fell in love with my career choice and pursued it further, which led me to where I am today.
What challenges have you overcome in your career?
Living in the United States was a big challenge for me. I moved to America from Jamaica when I was 17. Despite the many difficulties of adapting to a new culture, I continued to persevere.
Who motivates you every day?
My wife is my current motivator. She keeps me going when things are tough and continuously supports me every day.
What activities do you enjoy outside of Publix?
I discovered pickleball earlier in the year, and it has quickly become my favorite outdoor activity. I also enjoy playing video games and reading books.
