Expand your knowledge by using tuition reimbursement

It’s a new year, which means new opportunities to reach your goals. If expanding your education is on your list, Publix’s tuition reimbursement program could be just right for you!

The tuition reimbursement program could cover some of the educational costs for undergraduate or graduate degrees, technical and occupational programs, and individual courses. Participation in the reimbursement program requires manager approval.

Undergraduate program

You must have at least 90 days of continuous service; work an average of 10 hours per week, based on a 52-week average or portion of 52 weeks if employed less than 1 year; and be pursuing an approved area of study to qualify for the undergraduate reimbursement.

Graduate, occupational and technical programs

If you want reimbursement for a graduate degree or occupational or technical programs, your degree must align with your current position or established career path. The graduate reimbursement is only available for support associates.

These 2 associates are among those who have benefited from this program.

Success stories

Cristian Molina

Grocery Replenishment Specialist Cristian Molina is using the tuition reimbursement program while earning a bachelor’s degree at Florida State University. Cristian’s managers at #782, Tallahassee, Florida, told him about the program. After further research on PASSport, he applied.

“The program has allowed me to pursue more credit hours and get 1 step closer to finishing my degree,” said Cristian. “I’m able to take business and finance classes that align directly with the career I plan to pursue at Publix after graduating in May.”

Cristian encourages associates who value education to apply for the tuition reimbursement program.

“Publix has always taken care of me since I was hired at 15 and given me opportunities for growth. Even in college, Publix is still supporting my growth and development,” said Cristian. “I believe Publix genuinely cares for me and my well-being, and the tuition reimbursement benefit is just one example of this.”

Djay Wilcher

Associate Relations Manager Djay Wilcher used the tuition reimbursement program while earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. Djay has been with Publix since 2011. After hearing about tuition reimbursement for many years and even sharing the benefits with his peers, he decided to take advantage of the program.

“It gave me the extra push I needed to finish school, all while relieving financial burden,” said Djay. “To work at a company that’s so invested in you that they are willing to help you pay for your education is amazing.”

At school, Djay learned about business operations and human resources, which he uses daily at Publix.

“Applying these educational concepts has broadened my understanding of my role and helped me teach others while encouraging them to go back to school,” Djay said.

Djay is proud of his degrees and credits the tuition reimbursement program with helping him achieve them.

“The program gives hope to those who can’t afford to pay for school on their own,” he said. “If you left school or have struggled, don’t give up. Tuition reimbursement can help. Hold your head up and keep moving toward your goals!”
