A big move leads to impactful work

When Cashier Amy Chuthaabhichart moved from Thailand to the U.S., she didn’t know what to expect, but she did know that leaving her native country would be the most challenging part of her new journey.

Amy came to America for career opportunities and to be closer to family. Four years later, she has a job she loves at #313, Jupiter, Florida.

Amy’s 1st language is Thai, but she began learning English as a child.

“English was my favorite subject in school,” she said. “I enjoyed watching American movies and listening to music, which helped me speak the language fluently.”

When Amy moved to the U.S., she was worried that being from a different country would make her transition difficult. However, since working at Publix, she’s received support that has allowed her to see her background as an asset.

“My managers are patient and helpful,” she explained. “They support me through every challenge by offering training and words of encouragement. They also invite me to cook for our team potlucks, which makes me feel like a part of the Publix family.”

Amy’s been with Publix for less than a year, but she has already made a difference at her store.

“Amy’s hard work and dedication create a positive impact not only in customer service but in every area she works in,” said Customer Service Manager Steven McClintock. “Her friendly spirit makes every customer feel like they are kings and queens when interacting with her.”
