Malinda Renfroe, Vice President of Marketing

Malinda began her career with Publix in 2005 as an associate marketing project manager. She advanced through several positions within marketing, supporting stores in the Lakeland Division, corporate purchasing and omnichannel before being promoted to director of marketing operations in 2019. She was promoted to her current position in 2022.

What drew you to Publix?
Lakeland, Florida, is my home. This is where I was born and raised, with all my family nearby. After graduating from the University of South Florida, I began searching in Lakeland for a job with the potential to grow into a fulfilling career. Publix offered that opportunity and was a company I knew I would be proud to work for.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Prepare for future opportunities, but don’t forget to focus on the now. It’s important to be the best you can be in your role every day.

Any hobbies you enjoy?
I love working in my pollinator garden, where I can disconnect, recharge and appreciate nature. I also enjoy home renovation projects. These types of projects flex a different skill set and give me a sense of accomplishment.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The people. Building relationships with associates in marketing and across the organization is essential for operational excellence. These connections also help create a workplace where associates can thrive.

As a leader, how do you guide your team to success?
Staying connected to the work and the people lets me provide support at a higher level. Creating an environment of open communication with associates keeps me informed about their work, helps me understand the challenges they face, and gives me an opportunity to show support and compassion.

Who was your biggest motivation growing up?
My mom is my hero. She’s compassionate, smart, strong and dedicated, and she has instilled these values in me. She’s the 1st person I call to share my big or small accomplishments, get advice or have someone to listen to me. My mom is my biggest cheerleader and the very best role model a daughter could have.

What’s your favorite Publix product?
Our new croissants in the bakery, especially when they’re warm from the oven and freshly glazed.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, a 3-year-old goldendoodle named Sunny. He’s the best boy!

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be?
My best friend from high school, who lives in North Carolina. He’s “my person,” and we always have the very best time when we’re together.
