Our Publix truck drivers are vital to ensuring products arrive at our stores safely and on time. Every year, they showcase their skills and industry knowledge by participating in truck driving competitions across various states.
This year’s Florida Truck Driving Championships was held June 12 – 14 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Twenty-nine of our drivers competed in different vehicle classes, with 2 bringing home awards.
Joshua Ehret — 1st place, flatbed; In 2024, Joshua won 2nd place in the 5-axle tractor semitrailer category and was named Rookie of the Year. He will go on to compete at the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships, Aug. 20 – 23 in Minneapolis.
Tony Schmidt — 2nd place, 4-axle; Tony also won in the written test category.
Two Publix drivers also received awards for Driver of the Month.
