Our Publix truck drivers are vital to ensuring products arrive at our stores safely and on time. Every year, they showcase their skills and industry knowledge by participating in truck driving competitions across various states.
This year’s North Carolina Truck Driving Championship was held June 6 – 7 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Eight of our drivers competed in different vehicle classes, with 3 bringing home awards.
David Weakley — 1st place, 4-axle tractor semitrailer.
Raul Lopez — 2nd place, straight truck; Raul was also named Rookie of the Year.
Daniel Stewart — 3rd place, straight truck
We also had a technician win at this year’s competition. Kevin DeCosta won 2nd place in the technician category.
