What made you want to work for Publix?
As a child, I was fascinated by Publix and would make up any excuse to go there. I used to tell people I was going to work there, so when I initially looked for a job, I started with Publix. That was 33 years ago.
Why did you become a pharmacy tech?
My store manager told me he thought I’d do well in pharmacy, so I applied. I’ve been working in our pharmacy for 17 years, and I know I’ll retire here.
What do you enjoy most about being a pharmacy tech?
I love my patients and the relationships I have with them. In the pharmacy, we can develop those relationships easily. My hidden talent is being able to impact people with my positivity and compassion. I try to listen, empathize and maybe lighten their mood.
Who motivates you every day?
My late grandmother, wife and daughter motivate me. I honor my grandmother by working hard and I want my daughter to see that success is possible despite your start in life.
What activities do you enjoy outside of working at Publix?
I value quality time with my family and appreciate opportunities to create memories together. I bought the Aprons cookbook, and we used it to learn to cook together as a family. We also like to travel. Our favorite places to go to are the beach or on a cruise.
