Senior Manager of Procurement Allison Bassett, Lakeland, Florida, knows Publix is a great place to work. She leads the teams responsible for buying medications and managing inventory and has worked for Publix for 13 years.
Why did you want to become a pharmacist?
I was inspired by my family’s pharmacist to pursue the same path. I witnessed the impact he made on those in our community and aspired to do the same.
What keeps you going every day?
Knowing that our pharmacies depend on my team to have the necessary medications in order to take care of our patients. Being surrounded by great people also helps keep me motivated.
If you were not a pharmacist, what would you be?
While it’s tough to imagine a career outside of pharmacy, working in finance aligns with some of my personal interests and would be an alternative career at Publix.
Who inspires you?
My mother because she exemplified the ability to balance her role as a devoted parent and her responsibilities as a dedicated leader in her career. She extended the same care and guidance to her colleagues that she provided to our family. Achieving this level of balance was challenging, yet she seemed to manage it with ease.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy exercising, reading, boating and being outdoors.
What is your personal motto?
Start each day with a positive thought and a grateful heart.
