We’re proud to celebrate 25 years of our Get Into a Green Routine program! Since its launch in 2001, Green Routine has inspired associates to make simple, everyday choices that save energy, reduce waste and create a more eco-friendly environment — both at work and at home.
Key parts of the Green Routine program include energy conservation, recycling and water stewardship.
Energy conservation
Associates can help save electricity by
- turning off lights when not in use
- closing cooler doors and
- powering down equipment when it’s not in use.
At home, you can engage in similar practices to save electricity and reduce your electric bill and emissions from power use.
Recycling
Publix recycles millions of pounds of cardboard, plastic and paper each year across our stores and other facilities. Associates are encouraged to do the same at home by recycling materials through local residential collection services. You can also recycle foam, paper and clean, dry plastic bags in our storefront bins.
Water stewardship
At Publix, we conserve water through
- improved cleaning procedures
- proactive leak detection and
- smart design in our landscaping and irrigation systems.
You can conserve water at home by
- turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth and taking shorter showers
- installing water-saving devices like low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators and
- quickly repairing leaky toilets, faucets and irrigation systems.
Every little effort helps
It’s easy to get into a green routine. Small actions — like turning off a light switch or recycling a cardboard box — can add up to big changes when everyone works together.
