Think green: Taking action for the environment

Our Good Together environmental campaign runs April 17 – 26.

Green is more than the color of our logo; it represents our ongoing commitment to the environment and being responsible citizens in the communities we serve. Throughout April, we have several initiatives that showcase our dedication to environmental stewardship.

Doing good, together

Thanks to the generosity of customers and associates, we have supported projects across our eight-state operating area through our Good Together environmental campaign, now in its 3rd year.

In Florida, donations funded important efforts through FORCE BLUE and the National Park Foundation to protect, conserve and restore the state’s waterways, coastlines and oceans. Initiatives include removing over 10,000 pounds of harmful marine debris, such as abandoned fishing gear, tires, derelict vessels and other debris that can harm ocean wildlife and coral reefs. FORCE BLUE has also installed shoreline defense systems in the Florida Panhandle and an in-water coral nursery in the Florida Keys.

Donations in our other 7 states of operation have helped plant over 1.7 million trees in forests of need through the Arbor Day Foundation. They will help restore critical watersheds, create healthier habitats for wildlife and strengthen local forests, ensuring that the impact of these projects will be felt for decades to come.

Supporting sustainable seafood

Offering customers sustainable seafood options remains a priority at Publix. Through our collaboration with the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP), we’ve taken that commitment even further by funding projects that support sustainable fishing practices around the world. An example of this is our support of a regional incentive program that helps to reduce bycatch — the accidental catch of nontarget species — in key mahi-harvesting countries. By providing fishers with the training and resources needed to improve their catch data, the program helps them create more effective plans to reduce bycatch over time and protect ocean wildlife.

We’re also committed to providing customers with the information they need to make informed seafood-buying decisions. By using our product labels and sustainability icons, customers can learn where their seafood comes from and whether it’s considered sustainably sourced.

How you can make a difference

Our spring Publix Serves Week starts April 18 for support associates and April 19 for retail associates. Volunteers work on projects — such as park cleanups and tree plantings — that support organizations focused on environmental sustainability.
