Meet Pharmacy Manager Huda Abdi

When Pharmacy Manager Huda Abdi, #752, Stonecrest, Georgia, first stepped into a Publix Pharmacy, she was beginning a path that would grow into a meaningful career grounded in service and community.

What was your journey to becoming a pharmacist?
I began as a pharmacy technician. I loved my job so much that I decided to attend pharmacy school. Since graduating, I’ve worked my way up from floating pharmacist to assistant pharmacy manager and now I’m a pharmacy manager.

Why did you want to become a pharmacist?
I loved being a technician. I was able to see the difference I was making, which inspired me to go to pharmacy school.

Who’s been the most helpful to you in your career at Publix and why?
My fellow associates, especially my fellow pharmacy managers. They are always there to help, no matter what.

What do you love most about working for Publix?
I think Publix is unique. It’s an employee-owned company, which makes us accountable to each other. Being able to work to increase the value of something you own is great. Publix’s reputation precedes it. I want people to think of Publix Pharmacy with the same reverence.

If you were not a pharmacist, what would you be?
I think I’d be a college history professor.

Who inspires you?
My father came to the United States with 4 children. He worked labor-intensive, demanding jobs and never complained. He has always had a positive mindset, and I learned my work ethic from him.

What keeps you going every day?
There’s a community that depends on me and looks to me for help. I try to uphold our Publix customer service standard when it comes to caring for our customers.

What are your hobbies?
I love spending time with my family, exercising and organizing in my spare time.

What is your personal motto?
Move through the world with purpose.

Do you have a favorite quote by Mr. George?
Begin. The rest is easy.

Do you have a favorite Publix product?
There are several Publix products I like. The brownies and strawberry shortcake are my favorites, but, seasonally, I love the lemon tart cake.

What advice do you have for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a pharmacist?
I encourage them to work in a pharmacy. You can start by getting registered as a pharmacy technician. Remember to be open-minded, and you’ll see the benefits.
