Customers and co-workers Go Wild for seafood specialist

Seafood Specialist Rebecca Crenshaw, #430, Valdosta, Ga., knows her seafood. She’s spent countless hours researching recipes online and watching cooking shows so she can offer the best suggestions to her customers. Even without a taste for seafood herself, Rebecca has been giving her customers sound advice for 20 years.

“People are so surprised to find out I don’t eat seafood because I love talking about it so much,” said Rebecca. “I know every way to cook it, and my customers always come back to tell me how good it was. It makes me feel great that they trust me.”

Rebecca has worked at #430 the entire time she’s been with Publix, but she doesn’t spend all her time there. You can often find her traveling to new stores to help other seafood associates learn the ropes. She teaches them how to dynamically sell, how to talk to customers and — most important to her — how to perpetuate the Publix culture.

“It’s all about having fun while you work. When you’re having fun, it’s easy to provide great customer service, get to know your customers and sell great products,” said Rebecca. “I love spending time with new associates and helping to relieve some of the tension they might feel about being in an unfamiliar environment.”

With a smile that’s contagious, Rebecca eases new associates into their roles and shows them what Publix is all about. She loves this part of her job, but always enjoys returning to her home store to see the extended family and many friends she’s made over the years.

“I love my customers, and I know so many of them. I love Publix, too. It’s my family and my home away from home,” said Rebecca. “Publix doesn’t pay me to have bad days, so I laugh and smile as often as I can and hope that makes a difference for people.”

Pictured above, Seafood Specialist Rebecca Crenshaw never meets a stranger. She looks forward to sharing new recipes during Go Wild Seafood Fest on Friday, March 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.
