Our store associates are the face of Publix whenever our communities experience threatening storms. But do you know what happens behind the scenes to make sure our stores can be the heroes to customers?
Whenever we encounter a snow storm or hurricane like we have in the past, it has a huge effect on our supply chain. What our distribution and manufacturing associates do to get our stores ready is impressive — the pace at which they work is incredible, and what they all do after a storm is amazing.
Our facilities are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week either producing, shipping or receiving product, or being maintained so we’re ready when it’s safe to begin servicing our stores.
With the snow storms earlier this year, I heard stories about some of our associates being stranded in their trucks for 24 hours because they couldn’t move through traffic. Other associates couldn’t leave our stores. And in the end, they all stayed safe and helped many people in our communities stay safe, too.
Publix couldn’t be what it is without our behind-the-scenes associates. I applaud our entire team of manufacturing and distribution associates for their everyday actions and above and beyond commitment, especially during adverse circumstances.
I have no doubt taking care of their customers, their stores and others who need them — everywhere — is on their minds and driving their efforts. You can tell they truly care about their Publix family.
