Earlier this year, winter storms of a magnitude rarely seen in the South caused many roads to gridlock, blocking drivers from getting home. Many motorists pulled off the road, seeking shelter any place they could. Several Publix stores opened their doors to folks in need of food, a cup of coffee and a warm place to stay. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we’ll let these stories speak for themselves.

Dear Publix,
Have heard that your stores in the Atlanta area provided shelter as well as meals to people stranded due to weather. This is something almost unheard of anymore — a business that goes out of its way to reach out to the community!
I would like to salute you! Also, I promise to remember this each and every time it is time to do some shopping.
Please, don’t ever outgrow this. You have set an example for a world that often loses sight of its humanity.
Thank you and God bless.
