Looking back at a fantastic year

What a wonderful 85th anniversary year we had. While 2015 is quickly coming to an end, I don’t want to miss a chance to thank you for the job each of you does in retail and support.

This is the perfect time of year to remember how fortunate we are to own and be a part of this great company. Here are some of my favorite Publix accomplishments. Read 85 reasons to celebrate.

  • Mr. George’s lessons — We spent the year learning about the six lessons Mr. George used to build the foundation for the Publix culture. He believed in them then, and we still believe in them today.
  • New warehouses — Our Orlando refrigerated distribution center became fully operational. And we announced plans to open a high-velocity warehouse in McCalla, Alabama, replacing our temporary super-velocity warehouse in Atlanta.
  • Retail growth — We continued to grow by opening new stores in new markets, including five in North Carolina. We also announced plans to add a region to the Jacksonville Division, which will realign some of our division lines.
  • Wellness — To support your wellness journey, we launched a new, interactive Life. Inspired. website and offered you free health screenings at our Publix pharmacies.
  • Social media — We expanded our conversations with customers to include official Publix Instagram and Pinterest pages.
  • ROC — We kicked off the year with a great retail operations conference. Managers were recognized for their efforts; we learned about topics important to Publix and got a peek at many exciting business initiatives.

As we get ready to ring in a new year, I believe our future is bright, and we’re blessed to be part of the Publix family.
