Responsibility with mobile technology

Ed Crenshaw, CEO

Technology is prevalent in almost every aspect of our lives. Most of us have a mobile device on hand all the time.

You are accustomed to having information accessible at the tap of your finger, so we know how important it is to provide you with the information you’re looking for.

This is why we developed mobile versions of publix.org and PASSport. These sites include valuable information for you to reference while you’re on the go.

As mobile access becomes increasingly common, so does the amount of responsibility that comes with it. Protecting sensitive and confidential information is everyone’s job as company owners. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of a couple of points covered in Publix’s Information Resources Policy that I find helpful as we continue to provide information through mobile platforms:

  • Never subscribe to or download an unauthorized application on your personal device to connect to Publix websites or systems. If you’re not sure if a website or application is authorized, talk with your manager or call the I/S Computer Incident Response Team. Accessing unauthorized websites, apps and/or other systems may compromise personal and sensitive information about Publix and our associates.
  • Never develop apps, web pages, or custom systems or software to access Publix programs.

And, above all, never share your user ID, login or password with another person or use it on an unauthorized website or app.

I know you’ll do everything you can to keep information safe for yourself, your co-workers and Publix. I’m excited to see what else we can provide to you through mobile technology.
