Celebrating 90 years of Publix pride

This month marks our 90th anniversary.

When Mr. George opened his first store in 1930, he said his goal was to operate a better store than the competition. He wanted to treat his customers like royalty. He built relationships with each customer and continually looked for ways to make the shopping experience more pleasurable. He wanted to do the best he could for his customers.

Mr. George wanted to treat his associates with dignity and respect. He believed if you took care of your associates, they’d take care of the customers and the rest would take care of itself. He believed the associates who worked in the company should also be owners. That is part of what makes working at Publix so unique.

Mr. George also believed in the importance of giving back to the community. He believed helping the communities in which Publix operated was an investment, a responsibility and a privilege. Since September is also Hunger Action Month, it is the perfect time to remember the impact Publix makes in addressing food insecurity. That’s why we collaborate with Feeding America throughout the year to support their member food banks.

Today, we still believe in the goals Mr. George had 90 years ago. Publix is a strong, successful, associate-owned company that I’m proud to be part of. Our Publix family is amazing and continues to inspire me every day.

Thanks for all you do.
