Even in a pandemic, our customers feel like royalty

These past couple of months have been hard. You have not only dealt with your concerns over the coronavirus, but you’ve made sure to show your customers how much you care about them.

Each of you takes your role in supporting each other, your customers and your communities seriously. In times of crisis, Publix associates shine brighter and find ways to connect with others — and in many cases you help them remain calm.

We are known for how we step up and serve during hurricanes and winter storms, and how we support our communities when they’re in need. But the effect of this pandemic is something we’ve never seen before. Our store associates are the face of Publix every day, and our distribution associates are working hard to fill and deliver more trucks than ever before. Our manufacturing teams are producing customers’ essentials and grab & go items that help fill their “safer-at-home” needs. And behind the scenes, our support associates are purchasing needed products from new suppliers to help meet customer demand, developing new processes to respond to changing government guidance and ordinances, keeping our customers informed and, in many cases, stepping away from their normal tasks to help other areas of the company.

We are dedicating this issue of Publix News to you, to share and celebrate what you are doing to keep your customers, and each other, safe and product on the shelves. You’re working tirelessly, putting in more hours than you ever thought you would and focusing on your personal commitment to each other and your customers. You’re facing challenges we’ve never experienced at home and at work, and through it all, you are providing premier service.

Mr. George founded this company on the basis of caring for others and understanding the importance of treating our customers like royalty. What you’re doing is amazing. I am honored to work alongside you, and I know Mr. George would be proud of our Publix family.
