Mr. George would say we’re in the people business, and it’s the time of year when we can showcase what it means when we say Publix people make the difference.
We want to be the company that knows the most and cares the most about the products we sell and the people we serve. This year our customers may look to us to help them get creative in how they can make their traditional holiday gatherings different. This is another chance for us to shine.
Think about what makes the holidays special for you. Maybe it’s the smells that come out of the kitchen. Maybe it’s when your family comes together and bakes those special desserts. Or maybe it’s the place where everyone comes together to spread holiday cheer.
So how can we help our customers make those kinds of memories during a pandemic? Maybe families who can’t physically be together can still cook together. You can encourage your customers to share their favorite recipes and maybe even have the ingredients delivered straight to their family members’ doors. Then they could cook together while video chatting. Maybe you can suggest they plan to eat at the same time and raise their glasses together for a socially distanced toast (or maybe eat the dessert they made).
Our customers rely on us to help them create memories, and that relationship is limited only by our imaginations. We can honor and celebrate our loved ones through something we all have in common — the love of good food. So, when one of your customers asks for ideas for what to do this holiday season, get creative and help them be a memory-maker.
I hope you, your family and your friends create a holiday season you’ll always remember.
Thanks for all you do.
