As we enter the holidays, I know they may feel different. Family gatherings may be smaller. Get-togethers with friends may be online. But one thing won’t be different, and that’s how thankful I am for you.
As I traveled throughout the company during the pandemic, I met so many amazing associates who have dedicated themselves to creating a pleasurable shopping experience. I saw associates whose smiles showed even behind their face coverings and whose hearts remained focused on serving their customers, even in the most trying times.
We supported customers who found themselves cooking more than ever before. We even taught some customers to cook — people who never learned how to before they had to stay at home. We bought produce and milk from local farmers they would have otherwise thrown away and donated it to food banks that were seeing an increase in need, up to 300% to 400% in some regions. And we supported each other as we navigated a global pandemic that none of us had ever experienced.
I’ve seen our customers thank you in person with banners, treats, meals and more. I’ve seen them share their gratitude on social media platforms. I’ve seen your managers celebrate your personal milestones like graduations and work alongside you to meet the unprecedented service needs from customers. And I have seen your managers express their appreciation with cookouts, snacks and smiles, and by saying thank you.
As I look at what I’m thankful for, my family, my mentors, Mr. George and this incredible Publix family come to mind. You have been amazing.
Thanks for all you do.
