As the new year starts, let’s remember what we talked about last year. We are One Publix, united as owners, with One Purpose, to be servant leaders.

Mr. George knew Publix’s future success was dependent on Publix people. He knew it would take more than a pleasant shopping environment and quality products. It takes Publix people doing what we do best — being servant leaders — to make the difference.

This year, we will continue to work as one team with one purpose. We will continue to focus on our mission and our vision. We will always remain close to our customers and work to constantly put them before our processes. And do you know why? Because we are servant leaders.

So, take today to recommit to being servant leaders. Put on your nametag and remember to think about what serving means to you and to Publix. Then commit to doing it to the best of your abilities.

We are fortunate to serve as owners of this great company, and it’s our responsibility to take care of it and make it better than when we first started working here. I know I can count on you to join me in those efforts.
