The responsibility of company ownership

Todd Jones Publix CEO & President

As company owners, not only do we have the responsibility to treat our customers like royalty, but we have the responsibility to do much more.

The way we take care of our customers affects our ability to grow because how we treat them can be the difference between them shopping at our stores again, or not. Sometimes you may see a chance to improve customers’ experiences in what you do. Other times, you may see an opportunity to improve outside of your direct area of responsibility. But no matter what your area of responsibility is — as One Publix with One Purpose — what you do every day is what helps Publix be a better supermarket.

Over the decades, every generation has faced changes when serving customers. While change is something we can count on, the pace of change is going at a faster rate. And customers expect retailers to change quickly too, so being better today than you were yesterday is more important now than ever before.

As company owners, it’s our responsibility to be more nimble and remain relevant to our customers. You make the difference every day in how your customers feel about our company. See it. Own it. Solve it. Do it.

Thanks for all you do.
