Associates get involved in their communities

What started as a service project at one store has grown to include the entire district.

In February, Customer Service Team Leader Andrea Mesa, #741, Orlando, Fla., began coordinating community service projects with her local United Way office and schools. Word got out across the district, and soon all stores had associates signing up to volunteer and get involved. Andrea continues to plan monthly outings for associates to serve as responsible citizens in their communities.

“Being involved not only supports the Publix mission, it’s also a lot of fun,” said Andrea. “Each month, our associates look forward to the announcement of the next project and make plans to be at the event.”
