The APC Crisco National Pie Championships are pie-baking competitions held annually for amateur, professional and commercial bakers. Since 1995, contestants from around the country and Canada have brought their best pies to the table. Traditional pies, such as pumpkin and apple pie, win championships, but the contest also includes interesting-sounding pies like Raspberry Jalapeño Cream Cheese and Honey Boo Boo Praline Mud Pie.
Publix won in the commercial division for its Chocolate Pecan Coconut Pie, Sweet Potato Pecan Pie and Peach Cobbler Pie. In past years, Publix has entered and won championships for its apple, Key lime, coconut custard, mixed berry and cherry pies.
“We are very proud of the Publix manufacturing facility and associates who make these award-winning pies for our bakery department,” said Business Development Director Jane Pixley. “Publix manufacturing is a true asset to our company.”
