Selling event goes up against neighborhood markets

When a Walmart Neighborhood Market moved into town, associates at #502, Fleming Island, Fla., were ready. They planned a selling event aimed at parents and kids to promote Publix as a fun, friendly neighbor.

Each department demonstrated a kid-friendly item including popcorn chicken, Aprons kids sushi and apples with caramel dip. In the bakery, a station was set up for cookie decorating. Associates also handed out Publix backpacks, pencils, crayons and other items.

“We had a great time making sure the kids had fun, and the parents appreciated the opportunity to learn what makes Publix so special,” Store Manager Dave Lawson said.
