Store helps kids do the math during special event

Atlanta

Students from Barnwell Elementary School spent an evening with associates at #469, Johns Creek, Ga.

For Math Night, the students used grade-specific math worksheets and walked around the store to find the answers. When they completed their work, they received a Publix pencil, notepad, silly bands, bakery cookies and a bottle of water. The store donated a cupcake and ice cream party to the class with the highest participation. In addition, families could order a Barnwell Dinner-to-Go — a Publix Deli family combo meal, plus a half-gallon of Publix Deli tea or lemonade.

“Many of the families who came for this event were not regular customers of our location, and several parents thanked us for hosting the event,” said Store Manager Jerry Meyer.

The store received Fulton County’s Business Partner of the Year Award for their ongoing partnership with the school.
