Deli Clerk Raquel Daw, #1239, St. Augustine, Florida, loves the variety in her job.

After being a stay-at-home mom for years, Raquel started working for Publix as a part-time deli clerk in 2023. In January 2024, she moved to full time.

“It was an easy transition because I have been shopping at Publix for so long. I already knew most of the associates by name, and they welcomed me into the workplace like family,” Raquel said.

Raquel is a foodie, always looking for new and creative recipes to share with her kids. That is part of the reason why she loves the deli.

“Sometimes, I will be making subs for customers, and they’ll introduce me to new creations that I would have never thought of myself,” said Raquel. “I get inspired to try new things, and I have found that discussing food preferences and recipes is also a great conversation starter.”

The deli has 3 primary food service areas: traditional, hot prepared and cold prepared. Cleaning, food preparation and workstation preparation are needed in all 3 areas.

“The day is busy, but I love the variety,” said Raquel “It’s a rewarding job where you connect with customers, provide them with high-quality products and do something different every day!”

Raquel feels good about her job because she always leaves work feeling accomplished and fulfilled.
