Second-year Pharmacy Intern Alexis Murphy, #1239, St. Augustine, Florida, has a simple philosophy: Every interaction matters.
Alexis began her Publix journey during the COVID-19 pandemic while attending the University of North Florida. A friend working in the pharmacy encouraged her to apply, and Alexis saw it as the perfect way to gain customer care experience while pursuing her dream of becoming a pharmacist. Today, she’s in her 2nd year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Jacksonville, balancing school and work with grace and dedication.
“From her very 1st day on the job as a pharmacy technician in 2021, Alexis has focused on building meaningful relationships with everyone she serves,” said Regional Director Brian Bowman. “Her commitment shines through in even the small moments like remembering a customer’s name or offering a smile.”
Providing care and guidance to people with serious health challenges is something our pharmacy associates do every day. That premier service matters most when a customer needs extra support. Recently, Alexis went above and beyond to help an individual faced with a cancer diagnosis. Overwhelmed by new medications, the woman turned to Alexis for guidance — and found more than just answers. Alexis paused in the middle of a busy shift to review the patient’s insurance plan, explain potential side effects of the prescribed medicines and provide resources for additional support.
“That customer was so grateful that someone truly listened,” said Alexis. “Pharmacies are busy, and many people aren’t used to the level of care they receive at Publix. Knowing I can make even one person’s day a little easier is what motivates me.”
Through her empathy and dedication, Alexis proves that every interaction matters. Her personalized approach to providing premier customer service makes her a My Publix, My Part difference maker.
